Statement by Madeleine Albright, Chair, Albright Stonebridge Group

On behalf of Albright Stonebridge Group and my fellow Chairs, Samuel Berger and Carlos Gutierrez, I congratulate Richard Verma on his confirmation to serve as the next U.S. Ambassador to India.

I have had the opportunity to work with Rich in a variety of different capacities, most recently as a Senior Counselor at Albright Stonebridge.  While we will miss his presence in the firm, we know his appointment comes at an important time in our bilateral relations with India and that Rich will serve as a superb bridge between our two nations.  He will play an integral part in planning President Obama’s trip to India in January, which will include the first time that a U.S. President will have the honor to participate in the Republic Day celebration.

As our two countries broaden and strengthen their strategic partnership, the United States could have no better representative in India than Rich Verma.
