Jonathan Kaplan
Jonathan Kaplan is a Partner and leads DGA-ASG’s Education and Workforce practice.
Mr. Kaplan brings decades of leadership in business, government, and education. Before joining DGA-ASG, he spent 20 years as an executive, investor, and consultant in the global education sector. Mr. Kaplan was CEO of Laureate Education’s Online division which grew to be one of the largest online education platforms in the world, as well as President of Walden University. He was also co-founder of Inspara Partners, an investment firm focused on education ventures. Mr. Kaplan is an Adjunct Lecturer in the master's program in Higher Education Administration at Georgetown University.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Kaplan served in the White House as Special Assistant to the President for economic policy and chief of staff of the National Economic Council under President Bill Clinton. He also held posts at the U.S. Department of the Treasury, and on U.S. Senator John Kerry’s staff. Before his government service, he practiced law at Covington & Burling.
Mr. Kaplan has served on numerous boards, including Coursera, the Presidents’ Forum, as well as universities, schools, and non-profit organizations. Mr. Kaplan has testified before the U.S. Congress on education matters and was appointed in 2013 by a bipartisan group of U.S. senators to serve on a Congressional Task Force conducting a comprehensive review of federal higher education regulations and laws.
Mr. Kaplan earned his A.B. cum laude in government from Harvard University, and his J.D. from Boston University School of Law, where he served as an editor on the law review.
