John S. Kolasheski
John S. Kolasheski is a Senior Advisor at DGA-Albright Stonebridge Group, a founding member of DGA Group, and is based in Washington, D.C. He retired as a Lieutenant General from the U.S. Army in 2024, with over 34 years of service in a variety of command and staff assignments spanning multiple tours in Iraq, Afghanistan and Europe.
Mr. Kolasheski’s last assignment in uniform was serving as the 3-star Commanding General of U.S. Army V Corps, where he was responsible for leading U.S. Army operations and activities in Eastern Europe immediately following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Mr. Kolasheski previously served as the 2-star Commanding General of the 1st Infantry Division and Fort Riley, Kansas, from 2018 to 2020 where he was responsible for the well-being of over 40,000 soldiers, their families, and civilian employees.
Due to his experience and deep understanding of European security affairs, Mr. Kolasheski was selected to join NATO’s Senior Mentor Program immediately upon his retirement. NATO Senior Mentors are a hand-picked group of retired NATO Flag Officers that provide mentoring and advice to senior NATO commanders and staffs on the planning and conduct of operations and exercises. Additionally, he advises several tech and innovation companies.
Mr. Kolasheski earned a B.S. in business administration from Bucknell University and holds two M.S. from the University of Central Florida, one in simulations and training systems design and a second in engineering management. He also has a Master of Strategic Studies degree from the U.S. Army War College and served as a Senior National Security Fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations in New York City, New York. He has been individually recognized by NATO, Poland, Romania, Estonia, and Ukraine for his leadership. He and his wife currently live in Holden Beach, North Carolina.
