Assessing risks for investments in Equatorial Guinea
The Challenge
A major U.S.-based energy company with global operations desired a nuanced understanding of the political dynamics in Equatorial Guinea and the associated risks of doing business in the country.
The ASG Approach
ASG's Africa team carried out stakeholder mapping of the Equatoguinean Government and relevant stakeholders in the ruling elite, and gathered information about officials' stances on international energy companies. We also provided scenario mapping on potential political, security, and economic developments, and provided political, economic, and operational risk assessments for doing business in-country to help the company mitigate potential risks.
The Result
Privileged insights and information shared by ASG through confidential information gathering allowed the client to plan its operations in the country accordingly. ASG’s risk mitigation guidance positioned the client’s business for sustainable long-term operations in the country.
