Rubens Barbosa

Rubens Barbosa is a Senior Advisor at ASG,  where he advises clients throughout Brazil and the Americas by drawing on his experience as Brazilian Ambassador to the U.S. and the U.K. During his many years of diplomatic experience, Ambassador Barbosa managed economic, trade and commercial affairs and led hundreds of negotiation missions.

He represented the Federative Republic of Brazil in Washington, DC and at the Court of St. James in London. Ambassador Barbosa also served as Chairman of the Association of Coffee-Producing Countries.

Currently, he works as a Business Consultant and is President of the Upper Council of Foreign Trade from Federation of Industries of the State of Sao Paulo (FIESP), the leading interlocutor between industry and government in the capitol of Brazil.

He has held a variety of senior positions in the Brazilian Government’s Ministry of Foreign Relations, including Secretary for International Affairs at the Ministry of Finance; Brazilian Permanent Representative to the Latin American Integration Association (ALADI); Under Secretary-General for Regional Integration, Trade and Economic Affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Relations; and as Coordinator of the Brazilian Section of Mercosur, the Southern Cone Common Market.

Ambbassador Barbosa regularly publishes articles and essays and is the author of four books. He is a member of the board of the Sao Paulo State Symphony Orchestra (OSESP), the Foundation Padre Anchieta (TV Cultura) and the CSU (credit card administration) company.

He earned a Master’s degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science.

Ambassador Barbosa is based in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
