Melissa C. Frakman
Melissa C. Frakman is a Senior Director with the India and South Asia practice at ASG, where she advises clients on growth opportunities and strategy, drawing on her experience growing businesses and solving complex challenges in the India-U.S. corridor.
Ms. Frakman most recently served as Vice President of North America Operations at Zomato, a global consumer technology company headquartered in India. In this role, she was responsible for launching and managing regional operations including enterprise sales, marketing, product partnerships, content strategy, and business development.
Prior to this, Ms. Frakman served as Director of the U.S.-India Business Council. There, she advised Fortune 500 executives, investors, and startups on business development, partnerships, government relations, and market entry strategy to India across the Council's offices in Silicon Valley, New York, Washington, and New Delhi with a focus on financial services, technology, and investment issues.
Previously, she lived in New Delhi doing deal analysis for microfinance institutions attracting global private equity funding. Additionally, Ms. Frakman led International Business Development for Sabre Systems, a professional services firm, and was a Fellow of the Colin Powell Center in New York. She supported Goldman Sach's delegation to the 2010 Presidential Summit on Entrepreneurship and participated in the Legatum Institute's inaugural program for next generation global leaders.
Ms. Frakman has served as an Advisor to the Emerging Markets Institute of Cornell University's Johnson Graduate School of Management and as a Guest Lecturer at Harvard Business School, New York University, Georgetown University, Copenhagen Business School, the U.S. Foreign Policy Institute, and the National Venture Capital Association. She has been a Commentator in the Financial Times, Washington Post, India's The Economic Times, and Italy's La Repubblica.
Ms. Frakman studied at Columbia University, the City College of New York, where she graduated summa cum laude, and the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A). She is a member of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Society of Washington. Ms. Frakman is proficient in Hindi.
She is based in Washington, DC.
