João Sanches is a Senior Advisor at ASG, where he assists clients in Brazil and Latin America on government relations, market access, and regulatory issues. Mr. Sanches has extensive experience in the healthcare sector gained during his time at the Brazilian subsidiary of Merck & Co. where he worked for 35 years. During this period, he served as Business Development, Business Unit and Vaccines Director and, more recently, as Access, Government Relations and Strategic Alliances Director. Mr. Sanches also acted as Managing Director in MSD Chile subsidiary and head of Pharma Industry Association during the U.S.-Chile FTA negotiation.
Mr. Sanches contributed to the most successful pharmaceutical launch in Brazil with the introduction of Vioxx. He also managed the inclusion of HPV and HAV vaccines into the National Formulary in Brazil in 2014. As Strategic Alliance Director, he was responsible for the agreement of a public private partnership with leading state laboratory Instituto Butantan.
Mr. Sanches is a Member of the Board of the Brazilian Competetive Movement, head of the AMCHAM Task Force on Intellectual Property, member of the Board of Sindusfarma and is involved in several other organizations.
He holds a degree in Computer Technology from Ibero-Americano University in São Paulo, and graduate certificates in Marketing, Finance, Strategic Planning and Leadership from Wharton, Duke, and Columbia Universities.
Mr. Sanches is based in São Paulo, Brazil.
